Is your best ahead of you or behind you? A decorative sign in the store that read, “The Best is Yet to Come!” left me feeling sad. I looked at the young lady shopping next to me and I thought, “The best is yet to come for her, but my best has passed.” I continued shopping with a heavy heart. On the drive home, I began to think about how different I thought my life would be. How about you? Do you believe your best days are before or behind? Are you relying on youth, finances, good health, physical strength, a strong mind, abilities, or relationships to qualify your “best”?
I realized how distorted my outlook had become. The truths of aging had overshadowed my focus, but the Lord reminded me of Moses.
Moses was in his 80’s when he approached Pharaoh and witnessed God release His people from slavery. He stretched out his hand over the Red Sea and the LORD turned it into dry land (Ex. 14:21). He ate manna from heaven (Ex. 16:4). The LORD spoke to Moses “face to face, as one speaks to a friend” (Ex. 33:11).
When we walk with Christ, no matter what our age, the best is yet to come. We will spend all of eternity in the presence of the Almighty God in heaven and you cannot get any better than that. The Best IS Yet to Come!
1 Corinthians 2:9 English Standard Version (ESV)
9 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—

In cleaning out my late mother’s home I have reached the point of renewed grief. She was the last of 8 children and my lifetime of beloved relatives in and out of our home. The best a child could want. Yet, in taking my grandson to the ROC for basketball I felt revived with hopes for many years watching he and his brother. The best again to look forward.
This is so true. With all the live your best life slogans out there. We must know,as Christ followers, our best is yet to come. Thank you Gloria for reminding us of this. Love you
