JESUS – A Name with a Purpose

Birth announcements are exciting!  We had the privilege of knowing the name of our granddaughter, Naomi Grace, months prior to her birth.  I whispered that precious name many times in prayer before she ever saw the light of day.  Titus Alexander, our grandson’s name, was not learned until the day we laid our eyes on his handsome newborn face in the delivery room.  And then tears came with the announcement of Noelle Gail who shares my middle name!

Learning the names of all three of our grandchildren was special.  However, no birth announcement is greater than that of JESUS.  JESUS was announced in an angelic dream and would save the world!

21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21(ESV)

Not only did Mary and Joseph have the amazing experience of their Son’s name being announced by an angel before He was born, His purpose was made clear!  He would save the world!

JESUS!  Highly exalted!  Name above every name!  At the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth!  Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!  (Phi. 2:9-11)

Just as Jesus came for a purpose, you were created with a purpose.  You will not be the Savior of the world (that position is already taken) but you and I are chosen and called for a purpose and that purpose always involves other people.

Your life is not your own!  We are responsible for sharing our story with others!

Just saying the name JESUS aloud stirs the Holy Spirit in me.  Try it now!  Call out His name and tell Him thank you for coming to save your world!

If you don’t know JESUS as the savior of your world cry out to Him by name today!

13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”                              Romans 10:13 (NIV)
