Alarmed Prayer!

Most of us have experienced a ringing phone at an awkward moment.  We usually scramble to silence the ring as quickly as possible.

As I was speaking at a Women’s Retreat a phone went off in the auditorium.  I continued speaking assuming it would quickly be silenced.  Then I realized it wasn’t just one phone, it was multiple phones throughout the room.

The ladies were looking around at one another so I stopped speaking and heard someone say, “It’s 1:12 pm!” as if they all knew what that meant.  I understood from their reaction this was important to them so I asked, “Are we supposed to be somewhere or do something?” I thought maybe we had strayed off schedule and were about to miss an important part of the program.  They let me know their alarms were set to 1:12 pm as a call to prayer for Ronnie, a member of their church family who is fighting cancer.  His birthday is January 12th and his church family chose 1:12 pm as their daily time to lift him in prayer.

My immediate response, “Then let us pray!”  Who would like to lead us?”  We stopped right there in the moment and prayed.

Ronnie, I don’t know you personally but I do know you are well loved!  Not only by your sweet church family but also by Your Heavenly Father!  I too have set my own alarm for 1:12 pm to lift you in prayer this week!

The ladies at the retreat were certainly “devoted to…prayer” just like those mentioned in Acts 2:42.

Friends, we all have loved ones who need our prayer.  Will you set your alarm for a particular time this week and be devoted to pray for a specific person?  Let them know you are praying for them and please be sure to join us in prayer for Ronnie!

Gloria, I attended the study on Ruth in hopes of connecting with other Christian women. The message I heard & keep hearing is the need for and role of Christian women mentors. Bro. Ron’s sermon today hit on one of my strongest arguments….I’m not good enough to be of value as a mentor, too many flaws to be of service. I believe now that God has given me my story for a reason and I’m ready & willing to step up. I’m reaching out to you in hopes that we can talk about this and see what the next step is.

I work full time and my husband works remotely and is only home 1x month…it’s this next weekend; but I wondered if we could meet for coffee on March 25th?

If a phone conversation is best, please give me a call anytime 859.333.9164. Thank you, Linda Fairbanks
