A Leap of Faith

It was kind of a big deal that I was wearing a swimsuit in public.  I spent the morning at the neighborhood pool with my adorable grandchildren.  We found pretend hidden treasures and carefully placed them in the treasure trunk located at the helm of the pirate ship.

Each trip up the pirate ship ladder was followed by a trip down the slide.   I had no interested in getting my hair wet, but it was soaked thanks to the floating platform that sank with my weight making it impossible to land on my feet.  The younger sliders extended their necks like turtles to avoid face submersion.

Titus (my two-year-old grandson) would stand at the top of the slide and yell down, “Catch me G.G.” and immediately make the plunge into my arms.  He had NO HESITATION. He was fully confident I would catch him.  I was so deeply inspired by his leap of faith.

How often I stand in fear of the jump crying “Catch me God!” but hesitate to act.

As I navigate the pirate ship of life, God continually fills my treasure chest with His many blessings along the way.  I desire the two-year-old faith that allows me to jump into the deep waters completely trusting God to catch me.  He may allow me to sink deeper into the water than I desire (He often allows my head to go under or my hair to get wet) but he has never allowed me to sink deeper than His arm can rescue.

Friend, are you standing at the top of the slide hesitating to jump?  When God is calling us to jump we can be sure He will be there to catch us and guide us to His next treasure!  Let’s jump together!
