A Favored Saturday Morning!

What is your favorite thing to do on Saturday morning?

I was excited to have the morning to sit in a favored chair – the aroma of coffee laced with caramel macchiato at my side.  The soft leather of my Bible snug in my lap.  As the morning light filled the room, I soaked up God’s Word.  I had no commitments to rush off to and was fully anticipating God to speak to me!

I received great encouragement from the following :

17 “And say to Archippus, “See that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord.”                                                                                                         Colossians 4:17

Having no idea who Archippus was or why anyone would extend such a name to their child I was pleased to learn the meaning is “master of the horse.”  I felt like Paul’s words meant for the master of the horse was God speaking directly into my own heart.

  • The word Paul used for “fulfill” means, “…to carry into effect, bring to realization, realize…of matters of duty: to perform, execute.
  • The meaning of the word Paul used for “ministry” is of those who by command of God proclaim and promote religion among men.”

I had already committed a portion of my day to work on specific details of my ministry but Paul’s words showed me the great importance of our investment to perform & execute what God is calling us to do.  Ladies, we play an important role in God’s calling on our lives.  We can’t just sit back and expect God to fulfill His calling when He is requiring we do our part in the process.

God has given me an insatiable desire to connect with Christian women through speaking and writing to inspire and encourage them in their personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.  It brings me full satisfaction yet is completely out of my comfort.  Every time I stand before a precious group speaking or hit the send button on a post I feel completely vulnerable.  Yet the desire of obedience deepens with each experience.

Do you have a desire of your heart?  Is there something very specific you have been called of God to fulfill? What actions are you taking?  Ask God to show you the most important step you can take to fulfill His will in your life!

My friend, let’s accept Paul’s encouragement and do our part to fulfill the ministry that YOU have received in the Lord!
