A BRIGHT SPOT in the Week

Have you experienced a “Bright Spot” in your week?

I met my sweet friend for lunch and as we were leaving she told me she had anticipated our time together as being the “Bright Spot” in her week.  Her words stuck in my mind for days.

I did a Bible search and the only reference I found to “Bright Spot” was referring to leprosy.  Did my friend think her time with me was comparable to having leprosy?  I think not!  But isn’t that just like the enemy to try to steal a moment of significance.

Truthfully, my friend continues to be a “Bright Spot” in my life.  She sharpens me and gives me a desire to look more like Jesus.  Our most recent time together especially caused me to take the time to intentionally consider my blessings.   It turns out I have many blessings but was letting them slip by without even taking a moment to recognize their presence.

Here are a few of the “Bright Spots” in my week:

  • The first morning sip of coffee while reading my Bible
  • The sound of birds singing praises out my window
  • The affirmations of a husband who adores me
  • All-out worship of our Savior
  • A funny text from my son
  • A conversation with our daughter
  • The moment of comfort when crawling into bed at the end of a hard week with complete peace in knowing my God is in control of all things and I can trust Him!

What about you?  What has been a “Bright Spot” in your week?

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV)

  1. I had an eye infection this last week. Which was really not fun with three little kids to take care of but I am so thankful that I live with modern medicine. 24 hours on the eye drops and my life is back to normal. And I am grateful for insurance that covered a large portion of the cost! Thanks for your blog Gloria!

The bright spot in my week has been enjoying a picnic & walk in the park with my son. Thanks for these words Gloria. Reminds me that our words can make a difference in someone’s day.

A bright spot in my week so far has been reading this blog post. I’m not trying to blow smoke, I needed to be reminded of all the bright spots that I let pass by without noticing. Thank you Gloria

    A few of mine

    – God revealing himself to me through his word.

    – Conversations with my youngest when I pick her up from school.

    – How God has painted beautiful sunsets the past couple evenings.

-evening walks with my Hubs (something new for us)

-my 8 yo, highly competitive son, shared that he purposely didn’t catch a kickball at recess so the boy could who kicked it could get to first base. What encouragement I needed to see his heart changing 🙂

A few of the bright spots in my week so far…

    • My husband and I sharing the Gospel with our son Sunday morning.

    • Enjoyed a delicious home-cooked meal by my mom and dad with my family around the table for Sunday lunch. We ate grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn on the cob, salad, and biscuits, with chocolate chip cookie cake and fudge ripple ice cream for dessert!

    • Meeting the children in my Sparks group at church for the first time Sunday night.

    • Zaxby’s for lunch with a treasured friend on Monday, and holding her adopted baby girl for the first time.

    • Studying 1 Peter 3 with my Tuesday night Bible Fellowship Group.
